FIELD CREW CHIEF

The Crew Chief position is responsible for managing a survey crew.

Essential functions and responsibilities include:

  • Ensure field survey assignments are completed correctly, in a timely manner, while meeting safety guidelines. 

  • Responsible for boundary surveys, topographic surveys, control surveys, construction layout and staking, environmental mapping, GPS/GIS surveys, and land surveying.

  • Must possess an understanding of the survey profession and the associated responsibilities of a Crew Chief. 

  • Perform office functions including computations, reduction of field notes, filing, and retrieving prints. Follow prescribed safety practices for land surveying.

Qualifications: 

• High school diploma/GED required with preference for Associate's or Bachelor's degree in land surveying, GIS, engineering, or related field;

• 3+ years' experience working as Survey Chief preferred;

• Proficiency with GPS, Robotic Total Station and Data Collectors equipment experience is a must;

• AutoCAD  Civil 3D and Microstation experience is a plus but not required

• Ability to read and interpolate survey maps, construction plans and utility plans;

• Ability to perform QA/QC checks on work performed;

• Ability to compute, process, and map field data in an organized manner;

• Ability to work extended hours including Saturdays and ability to travel out of town for extended periods of time.

SURVEY TECHNICIAN OPERATOR / RODMAN

Responsibilities: 

The Instrument Operator / Rodman position is to assist the Land Survey Crew Chief in completing the crew's assigned field survey projects.

 

Essential functions and responsibilities include:

• Transmits survey data to proper files in the computer network and acquire data for field use;

• Keep crew's assigned vehicle clean, properly maintained, and stocked with the necessary equipment and supplies as instructed by the Party Chief. Report any mechanical or safety related problems to the Party Chief;

• Observe all safety guidelines and procedures, particularly when working around traffic or on active construction sites;

• Accurately identify the various types of trees encountered while performing field survey work;

• Assist in the training of entry level rodmen as requested;

• Cuts and clears brush and trees from line of survey;

• Stand, walk, use hands, tools, controls, reach with arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as well as lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds.

Qualifications: 

• High school diploma preferred or GED diploma

• 0-3 years of experience as an Instrument Operator and/or Rodman preferred

• Tennessee residency and land surveying experience preferred

• Knowledge of basic math (addition/subtraction, multiplication and division) and the types of measurements related to land surveying including linear, angular, elevations and unit systems conversion

• Requires good verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work extended hours including Saturdays and ability to travel out of town for extended periods of time

CADD ENGINEERING DESIGN TECHNICIAN

Support engineers and project developers in the preparation of plans for Civil Engineering projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

 

Required experience:
CAD Certification or Associates in Drafting and Design 
A minimum of 2 years of experience with AutoCAD 
A Minimum of 1 year Site Civil experience 
Must understand engineering, survey, and construction practices
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
AutoCAD Civil 3D experience preferred
